Stage 4 Checklist and Information

Here’s the checklist for this week.

 

We know this will be an iterative process. On Friday alone we had several teachers ask questions that led us to make some changes. We appreciate your commitment and communication.

The Western Cluster Connected Team (your instructional coaches, LTIs, librarians, and TSSs) will prioritize supporting teachers as you prepare for Stage 4 by offering support meetings on March 5, 8 and 9. We can offer instructional AND technical support. We recommend you sign up as a PLC so we can extend our support as far as possible, but you’re welcome to sign up as an individual.

Text Rendering Text rendering is an instructional strategy that maximizes live learning time by incorporating individual responsibility, collaborative work and reading. Prior to class, students are assigned a reading to complete individually. They will render the text during class. This protocol can be used for all sorts of readings from introductions of topics, reviews or a deep dive. Mindful Reflection Protocol Below, through a culturally responsive lens, I share how some of my assumptions clouded my perceptions and actions as a teacher. When we have trouble interacting and reaching students, it’s often easy to chalk it up to factors beyond our control without truly understanding and diagnosing the reasons and our role. While I use the protocol to highlight an experience from my teaching, I recognize that I must strive to better understand the deeper meaning of student behaviors.   Understanding   my   white   privilege:  10   lessons   learned   I am a white male who explores racial issues from an intellectual perspective. For me understanding racism and whiteness is often something I examine for a period of time--when discussing anti-racism, for example--and then I move on.
